Greg Luttrell is a singer, guitarist and harmonica player from Detroit, MI who relocated to Boston, MA and gets around doing performances of all kinds of feel good music. Whether performing with one of many bands or as a solo act, Greg's energy and delivery are a unique experience.
Luttrell is an outstanding guitar player and his voice has been likened to Marvin Gaye, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder and Brad Nowell. He honed his skills playing in blues and cover bands in the 90s and formed his own funk and soul band, Michigan Blacksnake who released Michigan Blacksnake(1997) and hit the road at a furious pace. They were nominated for a Boston Music Award as Best Funk Band in 2000 and continued playing concerts and festivals for the next three years. They shortened the name to Blacksnake and released Mind Over Matter(2004) and played 200+ shows that year and for years after all over the US and in the Caribbean.
In between runs with his bands, Greg has thrilled crowds from NY to LA with his solo acoustic performances. With a song list topping 400 tunes and a deep knowledge of genres, there's almost no crowd he can't jam with. He formed his own band again in 2005, the Greg Luttrell Band, a full band version of his acoustic act where genres blend seamlessly and songs evolve every night for whatever kind of party is happening.
As a sideman, Greg's main project has been the blistering hard rock band Electric Sugar, who released Prescription Only(2006) The Treatment Phase 1(2008) and The Treatment Phase 2 (2010). He spent most of 2006 as the guitarist for 80's pop sensation Missing Persons, performed with NYC's Mother's Favorite Child, jammed and recorded with Jen Kearney and the Lost Onion Bravery(2006) and performed with Johnny Trama's Trama Unit, and Dub Apocalypse among many others.
The GLB completed their second 4 month residency playing blues and soul in Shanghai, China last year and are scheduled to return there in early 2012. For this summer, Greg will be heating up stages everywhere, so watch out and look out.
